The Directorate and Visitors’ Centre of the Anykščiai Regional Park are located in the territory of the former Anykščiai Manor. The manor house dates back to the 16th-17th century. The building which currently houses the directorate and visitors’ center, is a school built in 1883 (it was renovated in 2010). The classics of the Lithuanian literature Antanas Baranauskas, Jonas Biliūnas and Antanas Vienuolis-Žukauskas studied in this school.
The Visitors’ Centre is the gate to the Anykščiai Regional Park. This is the best place to plan your trip and gain the information about the park. The Visitors‘ Center provides information on the natural and cultural heritage of Anykščiai Regional Park, local sightseeing, cognitive tourism and leisure possibilities. The Centre organizes nature and cultural events, seminars and has a permanent interactive exhibition.
Information regarding the local natural and cultural heritage is available in Lithuanian and English and is presented in a modern, interesting way. Curious people who love not only to read but also to observe, will be pleased to find several picturesque images, objects from the forest, geological wonders and even archaeological finds from Anykščiai!
The exposition is rich in audiovisual material. The interactive maps display exact locations of objects and feature detailed information, photos and videos. Just a few swipes and you can find out why the reservoir was established and what is being protected there.
You will hear audio tracks telling legends and tales about protected trees, boulders and mysterious areas. Lovers of literature will be greeted by audio excerpts from works of the most famous Anykščiai authors. Get comfortable on one of the soft "stones” and enjoy animation and documentary films in one of the constantly updated video terminals which display various videos of Anykščiai and its surrounding protected areas. You will have the opportunity to witness the beauty of the Anykščiai region from a bird’s eye view!
After familiarizing yourself with the heritage of the park, the hiking, bicycle and water paths, the places to eat and stay, the places to visit and the various activities you can do, you can travel around the park, try out the paths for yourself and visit interesting heritage sites!
